Three All White Outfit Rules to Live By

The official start of summer is memorial day and it signals to me the beginning of all white season; I wont lie I'm kinda excited for summer 17.  Speaking of all white In today's post I share Three all white outfit rules to live by.

Wearing all white when you are plus size can be tricky because well, we all know lighter colors make everyone look bigger. Despite that, you don't have to shy away from white if you are Plus size ( see more all white ).

FIT is King

The worst thing you can do while wearing whites is to wear something ill fitting if it's too big it will make you look sloppy and bigger and if it's too small it will accentuate all your flaws and probably make you look like a sausage. Size up if you have to, to get the right fit, its just a number 

Wear Complimentary whites

All whites aren't created equal there are different shades and variations from Ivory, to ecru and stark white if you pair the wrong combinations together 

Fabric Matters

When you are plus size fabric matters period but especially for white because as I said white tends to accentuate your flaws, however, heavier fabrics like knits, denim, and scuba are substantial enough to camouflage. Do stay away from see through thin jersey fabrics.

For this outfit, I paired my Fringed crop Jeans (love the darts in the back #nogap) with my fave Off the shoulder ruffled top and for accessories, I styled the look with my who what wear for Target gold Ring Tote. I wanted to add a bit of color so I finished it off with bright Pumps. 

Fit Tip: So I sized up on my jeans because I wanted it to fit properly around my hips and butt, I shouldn't have these jeans do stretch out with some wear so buy your size.

It's funny but the older I get the more I appreciate the heck outta my mom. Raise your hands if you feel the same way!! and if perchance you don't, don't worry it will change with time.

Striped Crossbody Bag + Red Pumps Outfit

 Today's look is for those cooler days (like today) and it's takeaway is that you can pair neutrals together. Black, white and brown do go together. That was the epiphany I had when trying to style my new fav, hasn't left my arm since I got it stripe Bag from Zara.

 am not sure where I spotted the two-tone stripe crossbody bag first Zara or Instagram one thing was for sure though I needed it in my life; I knew it would be versatile and add "something" to my looks. But then when I got it, I couldn't figure out how I wanted to style it 🤔,  I KNOW RIGHT that's what happens #expectationsvsreality. Anyway I ran across a picture on Instagram, by a blogger who had a similar bag and she styled hers with a camel trench coat and jeans and I was like duhhhhhhh!! of course black and white go with brown its called leopard print!

It was soooo cold the day we shot this look, so I was happy to be wearing my snuggly oversized Sweatshirt (same one I wore Here) and yes I am still on my athleisure kick. I am a mom and ill take any excuse to wear sweats. I styled the BAG with my nude sweatshirt, distressed Jeans (luv the fit), and red Pumps.

Tip: you can pair your neutrals together! Black and white stripes go with pretty much everything browns, blues, greens, and reds.

In other news why is spring weather so EMO tho, to be quite honest I'm just happy things are getting warmer.

Top 5 Spring & Summer Shoe Buys Under $100

I don't know about you guys but spring and summer is my favorite time to go shoe shopping. There is just more of a selection, so many different colors, prints, and styles
. In today's post I am sharing the Top 5 footwear styles everyone needs this spring + picks. I kept the round up budget friendly with almost everything under $100. Did I mention that I wear a size 11 so most, if not all of these shoes will go up to at least an 11.

The first piece of footwear you need is a mule, it is one of the breakthrough styles for spring. You can find them with bows, beads, embroidery and in various fabrics.

SHOP MULES

The second shoe style you need is a slide, thanks to celebs/designers like Rihanna. Slides are everywhere you can get them with, bows, fur, embellishment or with a slogan.

The third shoe style you need is an espadrille, now this style of shoe is not new for spring. However, the main update is in its pitch current styles resemble more of a flatform, which is a thicker more evened out platform style. The fourth shoe style is anything with pom poms, tassels or fringe this is a carry over style from last year and its not going anywhere.

Finally last footwear style isn't really a style but rather it is a color RED as I said in my Spring Trends post red and pink are the hero colors for ss17, and the easiest way to wear the colors is with accessories and footwear.

Mustard Moto Jacket Under $50: Jeans and Tee Outfit

JACKET // JEANS // SNEAKERS // FISHNETS

I have to be quiet honest I ummed and ahh before selecting this Yellow leather Jacket the model just didn't do it justice the first time I saw it. I thought it might be a tad too boxy for my shape however, I realized quickly that it all depends on the styling.

I'm so glad I picked up the Jacket and since then it's become a blogger fav. It such an eye-catching piece, it also doesn't hurt that mustard looks awesome on brown skin. If you like the Jacket hurry up and get it, because last I checked they only had two sizes left 😱. I love all the details on the Jacket, the contrasting silver hardware, the fact that its cropped, how it gathers in the back, and also the belt it comes with  (styled it Here as well).

I decided to pair the Jacket with all black so that it would be the focal point of the outfit. The Jeans I have on are from HM+ in a size 20 and my plus size Fishnets are from Ebay. I really like how the Fishnet peeks out of the slits in the denim. Thought I'd try the trend, its definitely one of those trends, that you are like what's the purpose here? It couldn't be for warmth, but by now you know I live for trying out new trends.

Before I forget I got the Jacket in a size 18, I typically size up for Jackets because of my arms in Eloquii. I actually wore the Jacket to the Eloquii store launch ( see Here) with my Famous Polka dot Maxi. There are so many ways you can style this Jacket and I guess that's what I love about it.

Ways to Wear Gingham: Gingham Trench & Distressed Jeans I Spring Style

As soon as I saw this Gingham Trench I thought Jackpot! In today's post I'll be sharing how to wear one of my favorite spring trends Gingham (see Spring Trends Guide). 

Before we discuss styling, let me make a case for Gingham its a classic print (timeless), and in small doses it can add a pop of print/interest to an outfit. Because the print is a mix between feminine and androgynous it can lend itself to both casual and formal attire. 

 I mentioned in my spring trends guide you can wear your Gingham in various ways. If the print scares you, start small with accessories like a bag, Shoes (try a loafer) or a scarf. If you are comfortable with the print try a Top or Pants or a blazer. Love the print try a Coat like mine, a Dress or even a mixture of colors you name it.
If you go however with the classic gingham print, you have two options. You can treat it like a neutral, and make it the focal point of the look by pairing it with other solid colored neutrals. Or you can play with its print by pairing it with other larger prints.

For this look I went with a goto, Jeans and a Tee . I upgraded the tee by pairing it with Red pumps (hot trend alert) which is currently on sale and off course my Gingham trench. I scooped up the Trench while I was in London from Next (get it Here) and I am wearing a UK18 which is a US 14 (more Info Here). As far as the rest of the look my Jeans and Tee came from Fashion To Figure (they make great jeans BTW) and my Hat came from Nordstrom.

Those of you who follow me on IG/Snapchat or were at the Plus + event know I wore the look to speak on a panel at Howard University on women's day.  I hope to be a part of more events this year. I seem to have gotten the bug and want to collab on more events.

Top 5 Wearable Trend for 2017 to Shop Now

Spring is officially here and guess what? Its time for my annual spring and summer fashion trends guide. I am sharing the top wearable (plus size friendly) trends for 2017. 

Before we get into clothing pieces lets talk about the break out colors for spring PINK & RED specifically blush/dusty rose and the fiesta red are spring favored colors (just ask Zara). PASTELS are also having a moment like in every spring season (shop your closet for this trend). However, this seasons update would be in unexpected styles think utilitarian & athleisure (see more) clothing.

Metallic accessories/accents are also having a moment especially SILVER think shoes, and bags etc

We luv the new crop of statement tees (like the feminists ones) or even the gucci ones, SLOGAN/GRAPHIC are definitely having a moment its a great way to make a statement literally without saying a word. Visit our tee shop to shop the Chicster Tee's.

A trend that has been slowly creeping up is the GINGHAM trend and this season its hit its apex. You can do gingham so many ways this season. Start small scarf, or shoes, try a top or graduate to a Jacket.

Gingham comes in pastels but black & white is classic and can be worn for many seasons to come.

Im low key obsessed with stripes and BOLD STRIPES are so in this season its a versatile trend because you can buy accessories with stripes or separates and you can probably shop your closet. However with this season's updated stripes are more colorful than ever.

Last but not least one of my favorite trends is RUFFLES, Ruffled neckline, waistband, sleeves and hems. Ruffles everywhere ruffles ruffles everywhere. Its a girly girls dream and even if your style isn't particularly girly before you know it the daintiness wins you over.

2 Ways To Wear Printed Pants I Spring Style

In today's post I'll be styling these fun Culottes two ways. We are three days away from the official start day of spring and when I saw this print on Eloquii's website it gave me total resort vibes (see Eloquii store launch shenanigans Here) and I just had to add it to cart. 

Most of you know about my love for culottes although tempered a bit, it has not ceased (also styled Here). However, this time I wanted to show two fool proof ways to wear a printed Pant (which happen to be culottes 😉) from work to weekend.

Although the print on these Pants are somewhat playful the black background adds a little sophistication and makes it appropriate for most work environments. To amp up that sophistication but not dull it down pair the pants with a blouse and structured/classic accessories and shoes. 

Being true to my nature I couldn't resist the urge to mix prints. However, I choose a subtle neutral print (see how to mix prints) Blouse that complemented the Pants. For Accessories, I went with the structured medium Mab tote that I scored from Nordstrom Rack and finished things off with casual black Pumps #closetclassic.

PANTS // BAG // BRACELETS // BLOUSE

For the weekend I went with another closet classic the denim jacket. To make the Pants appropriate for the weekend pair the pants with weekend staples like a denim jacket and comfortable footwear. Speaking of the Pants (the Printed Crop Flare) its made out of a lightweight woven fabric and I picked it up in a size 18 and it fit almost perfectly. It has an elasticated waist which means it a range of waist sizes.

PANTS // DENIM JACKET // HAT //  FUR SLIDES

Denim jackets have the ability to add a casual but cool americana vibe to any look, to go with the Denim jacket (from Old Navy) I paired the Pants with fur slides (comfort is KEY on weekends no?) a leather baseball Hat (bad hair day savior) and a Canvas Carryall perfect for running errands.
