5 Plus Size Outfits to Try in 2017

2016 was definitely an interesting year for me ( see Best Moments Here) it had its share of High and low's I'm sure I'm not alone, but that's not what today's post is about. As the title says we are here to talk about Outfits.  Just like last year instead of sharing my favorite Outfits, I will be rounding up yours.

Hands down I believe this Outfit was the most loved of 2016. These are the best looks from 2016 according to the Chicster's on Instagram (thank you for over 41,000 likes). As we grow and build the Chicster community (collective) it's important to incorporate others perspective, so let me know which outfit is your favorite (out of the 5) in the comments or if you had a personal favorite that wasn't included!!

Pssst come back Friday for a post on my Top purchases of 2016 ( Beauty, Fashion, Lifestyle ) and my thoughts on why you just might need them in 2017.

This Sweater and Pleated Midi Skirt Combo was a hit on Instagram and as of today date, you can get both the Top and the Skirt for under $60. I got the Skirt in a size 18 (I shoulda gotten a 16) and I purchased the top in 14 (very stretchy). SEE ORIGINAL POSTS HERE

This Wiggle Dress comes in so many colors on Asos and even in the Curve section this particular Dress is under $45. However, you better Hurry because there are limited sizes (get it Here) BTW I am wearing the Dress in a size 16 if your in-between sizes with hips and a butt go up in size. So who is ready for wedding season? SEE ORIGINAL POST HERE

Unfortunately, this Skirt was sold out before I wore it and I've received many compliments and comments about this look. This is one of my favorite ways to wear a Crop-top especially when you have a tummy just pair it with a MaxiSEE ORIGINAL POST HERE

If you are following me on Snapchat you know how I stalked and lamented about these Zara sandals because they had sold out. To my supreme delight, they came back in stock and I picked them up. Detailed sandals like these just make even the simplest things (like a T-shirt dress) Pop. The Zara sandals are sold out see similar Here

You guys were all aware of my slight obsession with Off shoulder pieces, so when I saw this Midi dress in burgundy with ruffles at Fashion Nova I was like yes, please. To make it further fall appropriate I added open Toes booties. To shop similar dresses visit Fashionnova.com and used CODE XOCHICHI for a surprise. SEE ORIGINAL POST HERE

Alright that wraps up the Top looks for 2016

So what was your favorite look and did it make it?

How to Dress Around The Weather : Leather Pants & a Chunky Knit Sweater

JOGGERS // SWEATER // BEANIE // CROSS BODY // PUMPS (This One is up to size 13)
Raise your hands if you have worn sweats for a couple days straight, and all you did/ wanted to do was snuggle in bed. Dont worry we have all been there and we know that it can be hard to make an effort when it gets cold.

Today post continues on with the theme from Monday (dressing around the weather), and we will be  talking about a go to look for winter that looks great on everyone. Remember this Post where I shared the secret to looking stylish? Today's post comes straight out of that book.

I've started living in Chunky Knits, I mean the temps were around the teens over here, after an unseasonably warm December. But the thing about chunky is that it typically makes you look chunkier. Which is why I usually pair it with Skinny's or in this case Leather Bottoms.

Tip always balance fullness with sleekness, basically if your wearing something voluminous on top, wear something sleek on the bottom.

This look should be your go to because you can take it from day to night in a flash by swapping out accessories, For example to make the look more casual rock it with Sneakers ( like these Nike's or Converse), to dress it up a bit more do a Smokey Eye, add some Bombshell Waves to your hair after you remove the Beanie ( which comes in Neon Green & Orange), and swap out your Cross-Body for a colorful Clutch to add back the pop in your outfit.

Tip if you have a fuller chest, avoid looking top heavy reach for Bras that Minimize the bust.

Pssst.... Have you checked out the winter clearance sale  happening at Nordstrom, you dont want to miss it  especially if you like a good bargain or are looking to save on Outerwear and Winter Accessories.

Red Culottes & Long Line Coat : 3 Ways to Standout at Work

plus size, culottes, old navy

red, culottes, trend
COAT // CULOTTES // PUMPS // BAG
Have you ever felt your work wardrobe was boring, almost like a uniform and didn't show your personality. Well then today's post is for you. Even in the strictest of offices (dress code wise) you can still show off your flair for style with these three tips.

Before I delve in how are you doing, hope your having a great and productive day!  If you havnt already make sure to check this Post to find the Perfect Dress for Valentines day .

First Tip is to look for alternative (modern) cuts like I have done here, rather than a traditional trouser I went for a Culotte, you could also opt for a Wide Leg pant or even a Cigarette pant . Before you dismiss Culottes for winter you could totally pair it with Boots ( Over the Knee or Mid Length ).

Next Tip is its all about details look for subtle ( possibly neutral or small) prints like a leopard ( like This) or a floral, look for added frills like in a Victorian Style Blouse, look for pieces with over-sized or military style lapels (like This), and interesting fabric choice like lace  ( luv this Lace Cropped Pant), velvet or jacquard ( Like these Pants)  etc

Final Tip you can always accessorize with seasonal colors; in winter burgundy or hunter green (like This or This) in summer pastels like Mint or Yellow.

Its important to look and feel your best especially in the work environment (confidence stands out) because remember your outfit is what people see first.
Will you be updating your work wardrobe ( where are your favorite places to shop for work  pieces), if you are make sure to take advantage of the end of winter sales going on now.

11 Affordable Date Dresses Valentines Day Edition

JACKET // DRESS ( on sale)  // PUMPS ( only $22)
If you have a hot date on valentines day and your not sure what to wear then today's post is for you!

Everyone style is different some people prefer to be modest ( aka sweet) others prefer to be sexy or sultry on Valentines Day in the end we want to look and feel our best and off course be admired. So whether your spending Vals day with a Beau (gift ideas for him HERE) or Best Girls I've linked pieces down below you will love.

I've noticed that I typically go for a sweet look around valentines day ( like last years Blush Pink Outfit). My tastes around this time of year is pretty typical  I like anything  pink, anything with hearts and cutesy things . So when I saw this Dress and the floral print I thought sign me up. The floral pattern on the black makes it perfect for cooler months and adds a little edge.

Tip: To add interest to any feminine look  add  something tough like a trusty Moto Jacket .  To compliment the floral print in the dress I went with an ankle strap Pump in the same hue as the florals in the Dress .

SHOP THE POST

The Dress it self  features a deep V in the bust ( has boning to keep it shape), a fitted waist with a belt and a petticoat to make the dress flare out . I recommend this dress because its quality and its definitely a classic so it will last you seasons. When you put on the Dress  prepare to feel like a mix between a 1960 house wife and a princess.

I would love to know how your spending your Valentines Day? Will you be going on a date with the Beau, spending it with your girls or will it be a Netflix and chill kinda night?

Teddy Coat & Full Plaid Skirt

HOW TO WEAR A PLUS SIZE FUR COAT

TEDDY COAT // FULL SKIRT // PUMPS
Have you seen a Teddy/Shaggy or Fur coat and thought that wouldn't work for me because that would add too much bulk, well then today's post is for you. Although pulling off a Fuller Coat can be tricky when plus size ( no one wants to look bigger than they are ) its totally doable.

I originally styled this coat with Boyfriend Jeans not the Skinny kind like the Baggy kind it was an absolute fail. What I learned (really already knew) is that when wearing over-sized (voluminous) Coat (like this Teddy/Shaggy Coat) you have to keep your bottom half sleek.

So I am sure you are wondering but your Full Skirt is not sleek right? Well this look works because all the volume is concentrated up top in actual fact this volume helps balance out full thighs and my bare legs act  as my sleek bottom half. Since the look was quite neutral I chose to pair it with my Mustard Pumps for a pop of color; a colbalt or Pink pair would have also done the trick.

I practice what I preach y'all remember in Last Weeks Post I said neutrals with a pop, well apparently I am continuing with that theme. I apologize for the weirdness in posting, a lot has been going on personally, for one my little one was under the weather (this never happens Thank God) but its all
better now.

SHOP THE POST

Do you have a teddy coat if you do how do you style it? If you dont will you be purchasing one? now is definitely the time to get the most bang for your buck (coats and winter merchandise are begining to be cleared out for spring ).

Psst.... make sure you take advantage of the MLK sales going on at ELOQUII , BANNANA REPUBLIC, ASOS  be sure to come back on Thursday  for a Date  Valentines  themed post.

Neutrals With a Side of Leopard : Asos Scuba Moto Jacket & Leopard Pumps

JACKET // JEANS // FUR CLUTCH (on sale for only $19) // PUMPS // BLACK CLUTCH
Do you find yourself reaching for the same basic pieces over and over again then today post is for you.
Ive been really loving my neutrals lately specifically black, (speaking of which I just scored a Black Teddy Coat from HM on Sale but that's for another post); the problem with loving neutrals is that they can be a bit boring not everyone (can pull it off) is Kimye OK.

If you find yourself in such a dilemma just add a pop of print, leopard is always SAFE  ( try a Beanie, Clutch, Pump or even a Scarf) .  Side bar, until I can find my dream Leopard Clutch at my dream price ( I would love This One if was a bit bigger and a little less) I will wear my Leopard Pumps till the wheels fall off and that may be sooner than I would like to admit.

Another great way to add  a pop to a neutral outfit is to add color, during fall and winter jewel tones work great like Cobalt ( like this  Clutch) , emerald (these day you can even do it with your Sunglasses), or even pastels like baby pink ( luv This Coat) and mint.

I kept the look simple by paring my favorite Skinnies from Old Navy with a black Top and a Cream moto Jacket ( like this One) from Asos. In look one I Choose my Fur Clutch ( that I also Wore Here) and in Look Two I went with my Black Clutch, because all the colors are neutral they can be easily interchanged.

Psst... HM and Asos Curve are having great sales right now up to 70% off both sales are definitely worth checking out!

2016  is already shaping up to be a great year, I know it will be an exciting & blessed year for all of us! Be sure to come back Monday I'll be sharing 8 items that will help jump start your year.

This is that weird time of year between the old year and the new one. All you find your self doing is reflecting on the prior year and setting goals for the new one and its the perfect time for a roundup. This year rather than sharing my favorite looks /outfits, I decided to share yours.
As the title says these are the best looks from 2015 according to the Chicster on Instagram (thank you for over 29,000 likes). I will say that I would not have chosen some of these looks as the best, but its always good to incorporate others perspective.
Let me know which outfit is your favorite (out of the 5) in the comments or if you had a personal favorite that wasnt included!!

This Asos Off Shoulder Top was  a definite favorite (still is) for me and the outfits that came together in response got a lot of positive feedback on Instagram. This Look works because I mixed two prints that always work well together stripes and florals. For more Tips Tips on mixing Prints see the original Post Here

I did not expect This Look to garner so much attention in actual fact I didnt like the way the pictures came out, however it was also an Instagram & Youtube (are you Subscribed?) favorite.  When you have a Dress (on sale & only a few left) like this that is the statement, a Tip is to keep everything else toned down. how to wear a LBD

DRESS // PUMPS // CLUTCH // STOLE
Are you a repeat offender do you have that one Dress that you would wear every where if you could . If you are then This Post is definitely for you.

Today's post was actually supposed to be part of  Saturdays Post but fortunately for me I ran out of time. So I figured I would make it, its own post. The Post in question was all about maximizing your wardrobe using Accessories.

I was able to create a Glam-ish holiday look here, using accessories I already owned and an old LBD. So if you have that trusty Dress that you love cause it makes you feel like Bey, relax you can wear it again.  Use the pieces from Saturdays Post, to create as many looks as you like!

This look was all about the Faux Fur Stole ( aka a Fur Collar I took of of this Jacket and DIY-ed), so I kept everything else black ( Pumps & Clutch) to compliment the Stole I threw on a long Vintage Style Necklace and viola the look was complete. If I were styling this look on a client or in an editorial I would pair it with a Red Lip ( which was my intention) and some glamorous waves.

I am apologizing for all the black as of late I promise I have color in my closet and it will be coming your way soon.

New Years Eve Outfit: How To Wear a Black Fringe Skirt + Holiday Style Tips

plus size holiday outfit

eloquii-plus-size-fringe-skirt-asos-curve-off-shoulder-romper
OFF SHOULDER TOP // FRINGE SKIRT // BLACK PUMPS // METALLIC CLUTCH
Like I said in This Post, if you've got more than a few holiday events coming up then you should invest in Separates .
If you go with Blacks ( like ive done here because it ALWAYS  works), Jewel Tones and Metallics you can mix and match all day long. Just add different Accessories and Voila! you've got new looks.

If your Subscribed (subscribe Here) to me on YouTube you have probably seen this look because it was featured in my Holiday Fashion Lookbook. A lot of you inquired about the Fringe Skirt, so I figured the look was a winner for the blog. As I stated above I am a die hard separates fan, even when its not the holidays because you get the most bank (from your wardrobe) for your buck .

For this look I pared an off shoulder Romper from  Asos ( yes I said romper) with a Fringe Skirt from Eloquii which I stalked for like a year and a  half ( sadly I got the Fringe Skirt on super sale and its SOLD OUT  similar Here (now at 25% off use Code: GIFT25) & shop more Fringe Here). I decided to go with Silver Accessories and I finished off the look with my trusty Black Pumps.

This look would be perfect for a conservative Holiday Party like a company/office related event; for more holiday looks see This Post.

This was my very first  Eloquii purchase and I wasn't disappointed . This skirt was true to women's sizing &  in my opinion the skirt was made very well(fabric zippers and all). Also I had no issues with shipping which is always a concern when ordering online.

Be sure to come back Saturday for advice on maximizing your wardrobe I will be sharing tips on channeling (a how to) holiday glam with accessories .

How to Wear a Boyfriend Coat: Fur Lined Camel Coat & Leather Skirt

ASOS FUR LINED BOYFRIEND COAT, FOREVER 21 LEATHER MINI SKIRT, SHOEDAZZLE LACE UP PEEP TOE BOOTIES

HOW TO WEAR A BOYFRIEND COAT , PLUS SIZE FASHION
COAT // LEATHER SKIRT // OPEN TOED BOOTIES // SHEER TOP
Its beginning to look ( and feel ) a lot like (Winter) Christmas  the weather has been mehh, its been raining and nippy in the low 40's the last couple of days. I cant complain though because were having it easy ( in the DMV) compared to the folks in the midwestern states that have had tornadoes, earthquakes and multiple snow storms.
Basically its outerwear season and as soon as I saw this Fur Lined Camel Coat on Asos I knew it had to be mine, especially since it was under $60 ( SOLDOUT but similar Here and more options Here).
Camel Coats are a closet essential they pair well with other neutrals and transition well because they can be worn with brighter colors as well as pastels.

I kept the look Neutral and went with an all black canvas, I tend to go dark as temps go down .  I wanted to add a little edge & texture so I choose my Leather Mini ( luv This & This) from Forever 21, a sheer button down and Open Toed Booties ( luv These more options Here).

Be sure to check back Saturday for all things warm, cozy, & comfortable ( think plush robes,  Cute Onesies, decadent slippers, cheeky nighties e.t.c).

If its also raining where you are you can  also shop Rain Gear below
