NYFW RECAP Two: Featuring ONYII

If your not from the big apple its pace definitely takes its toll on you, especially during fashion week. From whizzing around the city trying to get to all the events (that you probably shouldn't have double booked), to trying to navigate the subway while dealing with the stifling heat. Not to mention trying to hail a cab because Uber loves to surge it  all becomes a bit much.

The second leg of the trip was a lot less hectic, Sunday unfortunately was kinda all over the place. We didn't make it to the Refinery 29 rooms exhibit in Brooklyn as planned, in retrospect I wish we had planned to go earlier, neither did we make it to brunch. However we did go to the J Loren presentation by the High Line and after that It was time to say Good bye to Val.

ONYII SS17
On my last day at NYFW I was flying solo I started the day at the Onyii Show. IN my opinion the entire collection screamed garden party!! perhaps in Lagos? The palette of blues, greens , pinks, oranges and white felt fresh and perfect for spring. I was especially drawn to the pink and white combo, unfortunately the photo isnt doing the look justice; because it was in keeping with the overall Onyii aesthetic but much more subtle with only the belt in print. Additionally the makeup complimented the theme well, the models sported dewey, glowy skin with pops of coral on the lips. Finally go check out and shop her fall collection Here, totaling drooling over these Widelegs.

After the show I did a little shopping to kill time around 34th street. Perused the HM studio collection ( luved This ) may or may not have splurged a little. Then I headed to Grand street for the DIA X FTF event. Those following on Snapchat saw that it was a collaboration between DIA & Co a personal styling service for plus women which sends you a curated box of pieces and Fashion to Figure . It was a great event I got to put real faces to a lot of my Instagram feed.

After that I headed back to Chelsea and Milk studios for the LIKETOKNOWIT X MilkMakeup event and just like the other event I got to put faces to the other half of my Instagram feed. The event was "LIT" as they say and sadly my last hurrah!

Overall it was a great experience their are a few things I would do differently next year and a few things that I didn't love. I'd be happy to share my insights with you guys, let me know if interested in the comments.
So it's. Officially fall and I was thinking of doing a Fall Trends round up and shopping guide.  Sorta eluded to it in this Post.

One of you suggested I do a Fall handbag round up would you like that?
Please leave your requests down below.

NYFW Recap One

As some of you who follow me on Snapchat may know I was in New York for Fashion week 9/9-9/12 and it was surreal. It has had been a goal of mine since I was a teenager staying up all night watching fashion TV; a cable channel in Nigeria that reran runway shows and fashion parties. I had big dreams as a little girl I wanted to be a part of that world so bad and to be a fashion designer.

However I come from a very practical background and a job in anything less than one rooted in academia was just not an option (so a dream deferred). After all I am the first child, from a single parent household with siblings that were impressionable.

I guess its the reason why when I started this creative journey in the digital space I kept it from everyone. Even now in some spaces, I feel a little unsure, slightly insecure and a bit sensitive about Supplechic.

CHROMAT SS17
Anyway I say all this to try an clue you guys in to what a dream it was to me to see the Chromat show live, to be able to RSVP, to be on the list. It had been a goal of mine to sit front row at NewYork Fashion Week before Thirty.  Although things didnt go exactly as planned and I am thirty and seven months old, I still got to experience it all and could have reached out and touched the models at the Onyii show (recap coming soon). Thinking of it basically brings tears to my eyes and I am grateful to God for honoring this dream of mine.

CHROMAT SS17

Day one consisted of me arriving to New York, attending the Chromat show at Milk Studios, eating the best freaking Hotdog Ive had in a while at Dikersons in Chealsea market, checking in and passing out. Additionally I was also invited to the Francesca Libetorie show however it was at the same time as Chromat so I had a fellow blogger go in my place and collect footage.

FRANCESCA LIBERATORE

FRANCESCA LIBERATORE
On day two we had two events the first one being the ShopStyle Social House at The Glass Houses and then we were off to Dumbo Brooklyn for the essence street style block party. It was quite hot in both days so I definitely had to make some adjustments to my look.

The essence street style event was awesome there were a variety of booths from various vendors from Shea moisture to the Rue 107 to Chen Bucket to Chevrolet it was just a fun event filled with music and great street style.

So because I didnt post at all last week I will be catching up so come back tomorrow for an Outfit post and the following day for part two of the recap. Additionally if you missed the Footage I collect from the trip I also vlogged so Subscribe Here for my inside look to NYFW.

Do you write down your dreams/goals, I wrote this one (NYFW) down two years ago why or why not? comment down below!! What steps have you taken today to reach it?

In NYC : The Travel Diary and Recap

I've been talking about recapping my New York trip for so long, so that's what today's post is about. By the way I vlogged  (video Blogged ) the entire NYC trip , it will be live on my YouTube channel tomorrow so if your not subscribed, Subscribe Here so you will be the first to know once its up.

WHY I GO
As you guys know I went to New York to attend curvy con the main reasons why I've attended the Curvy con two years in a row is because I go there to meet and network with other plus size bloggers as well as meet brands that cater directly to plus size women. My current network of Blogger friends is all because of Curvy con, the Spring Trends Collab I did with them probably wouldn't have happened if I hadn't gone to Curvycon so for that I am thankful to Cece & Chastity.

BEFORE
This years Curvy con was a two day event however I was only there for the main day simply because I could not get time off work. As many of you know I am an educator and it was the end of the school year, so getting time off was completely off the table.
Basically I went from work on Friday to conference I arrived in New York before 7 o'clock in the morning, and then we were treated to a beauty and wellness experience courtesy of our hotel the Hilton Midtown and PRIV (see this Post for details).

 CURVY CON
After that it was off to the Curvy con, we missed most of the panels in the morning because we arrived there after 1 o'clock. However we did get to enjoy the shopping experience downstairs and we did get to catch a panel upstairs. I met so many wonderful ladies while I was there I got to see Trendycurvy, Everythingcurvychic, and Bigbeautifulblackgirls again. I also saw some new faces Hayet Rida, Studio Mucci, Curvesonabudget  just to name a few. I also finally met God'sfavoriteshoes she is such a sweetheart by the way. It was so nice to preview, network and converse with all of the brands that were there from Hello Gorgeous, to Fashion to Figure, Simplybe, Eloquii, Asos, Dia and Co and many others.

LEISURE
So the original plan for after the Curvy con was to go out for drinks and dancing. However with all the walking around, standing and my personal exhaustion from only getting like two hours of sleep the night before we opted for dinner, some light shopping, and drinks.

WHERE WE ATE
Surprisingly we did a lot of eating in a short period of time, after some debate, we decided upon Times Square. First we went for fro yo, second we went and got "sriracha" hot-dogs at the Snack Box and then after some light shopping we finally ended up at Dallas Dallas BBQ's for drinks and their infamous or is it famous sticky wings.

After that it was off to bed because although it was past midnight we had to get up super early for an early morning shoot (see This Post for details).  After our shoot we ate our final meal together at the @NYHiltonMidtwon's Herbs 'n Kitchen Market, it was an awesome brunch with a spread like no other. Everything was so fresh and good.  Sadly, finally it was time to leave.

SHOPPING
Unfortunately we didn't do as much shopping as we intended. The original plan was to go to Soho and check out Zara, Topshop, HM, Uniqulo, Necessary Clothing, etc but for various reasons each of us had to get back earlier than anticipated . It just so happened to be Father's Day and game seven of the NBA playoffs. We all know how that went.

REFLECTING
Overall the trip was a complete success, I really had some reservations about embarking on the trip this year. In retrospect over the last couple of years that I have been to New York for either Full Figured Fashion Week or CurvyCon this was the most rewarding and probably the only trip that exceeded my expectations. Special thanks to The Lord, my awesome Blogger boos, Roadtofashionable, FashiononaCurve and Heartprintandstyle for convincing me to go again, to PRIV, and the Hilton Midtown for making it an enjoyable stay.

Speaking of expectations, the Nordstrom sale starts in five days (early access) and it's a sale that typically exceeds expectations. Are you ready for it? Are you eligible for early excess?  If you're not sign up Here. You can find my #nsale Picks in a dedicated Tab up top (coming soon) as well as in the Side bar. I will be dissecting the plus size sale, while also sharing picks from Nordstrom Juniors, Shoes, Bags,Watches, Beauty and Menswear.

P.s. this was a long one and if you made it this far here's a virtual hug from me!! Thanks for stopping by ðŸ˜šðŸ˜š

theCurvyCon: A Must Attend this Summer

Where can you meet your favorite Curvy Bloggers/Youtubers, learn about how to improve your personal style, fitness, confidence, and chat/meet other stylish like minded women theCurvyCon off course.

You will be able to chat curvy, shop curvy, embrace curvy and immerse your self in all things curvy; its is a one day event, that will be taking place in the back drop of NYC. In my opinion its an event not to be missed; even before I was contacted to promote the event, as soon as I heard about the event, I purchased my Ticket, I put my money where my mouth is! Get yours Here.

theCurvyCon is the brainchild of two powerhouse bloggers CeCe Olisa of Plus Size Princess (PSPfit) and Chastity Valentine of Garner Style (the Curvy Girls Guide To Style)

So why is theCurvyCon a must attend event?
The day will be filled with various discussions ranging from  health, fitness," how to be stylish at any size", confidence, love/dating/sex, and so much more.

These discussions will be lead by speakers like  Gabi from Gabifresh.com, Kierra Sheard, Crissele West from " This is the Read", Kellie Brown from Andigetdressed.com,  Nadia Aboulson, Chante from Everthingcurvyandchic.com and off course the Key note speaker Amber Riley ( yes stars will be in the building!). You can see the complete lineup Here.

If your not into all that discussing theCurvyCon also caters to my shopaholics, the will have brands like Eloquii, Rebdolls, FTF, Ideel, NXY and so much more. You will get a chance to see the pieces in person and try them on before you buy!

Finally let me tell you the two reasons that sold me.  First is that its in NYC, if you have never been, this is the perfect excuse to go to to NYC. As a former New Yorker I can say that there is an electricity to that city that I havnt found anywhere else. Also the Shopping!, the selection of items, places to shop, all unparalleled at least in  North America.

If you are coming from out of town (like myself) the hosts have blocked out (discounted) Hotel space just for you! Hurry though the rate expires MAY 19 ( even if you are unsure I recommended making a reservation you can always cancel).

Last but not least my main reason for going to theCurvyCon is to network!!! Meeting new people always opens new doors, no matter what your goals are in life, and when you have a room full of women with a common agenda,  moves are bound to be made. Plus size fashion is a multi-million or is it billion dollar industry why not come and get your piece of the pie!

*This post was sponsored by theCurvyCon but all opinions are my own.

Cant wait to see YOU there, I would love to meet you!
