NYFW RECAP Two: Featuring ONYII

If your not from the big apple its pace definitely takes its toll on you, especially during fashion week. From whizzing around the city trying to get to all the events (that you probably shouldn't have double booked), to trying to navigate the subway while dealing with the stifling heat. Not to mention trying to hail a cab because Uber loves to surge it  all becomes a bit much.

The second leg of the trip was a lot less hectic, Sunday unfortunately was kinda all over the place. We didn't make it to the Refinery 29 rooms exhibit in Brooklyn as planned, in retrospect I wish we had planned to go earlier, neither did we make it to brunch. However we did go to the J Loren presentation by the High Line and after that It was time to say Good bye to Val.

ONYII SS17
On my last day at NYFW I was flying solo I started the day at the Onyii Show. IN my opinion the entire collection screamed garden party!! perhaps in Lagos? The palette of blues, greens , pinks, oranges and white felt fresh and perfect for spring. I was especially drawn to the pink and white combo, unfortunately the photo isnt doing the look justice; because it was in keeping with the overall Onyii aesthetic but much more subtle with only the belt in print. Additionally the makeup complimented the theme well, the models sported dewey, glowy skin with pops of coral on the lips. Finally go check out and shop her fall collection Here, totaling drooling over these Widelegs.

After the show I did a little shopping to kill time around 34th street. Perused the HM studio collection ( luved This ) may or may not have splurged a little. Then I headed to Grand street for the DIA X FTF event. Those following on Snapchat saw that it was a collaboration between DIA & Co a personal styling service for plus women which sends you a curated box of pieces and Fashion to Figure . It was a great event I got to put real faces to a lot of my Instagram feed.

After that I headed back to Chelsea and Milk studios for the LIKETOKNOWIT X MilkMakeup event and just like the other event I got to put faces to the other half of my Instagram feed. The event was "LIT" as they say and sadly my last hurrah!

Overall it was a great experience their are a few things I would do differently next year and a few things that I didn't love. I'd be happy to share my insights with you guys, let me know if interested in the comments.
So it's. Officially fall and I was thinking of doing a Fall Trends round up and shopping guide.  Sorta eluded to it in this Post.

One of you suggested I do a Fall handbag round up would you like that?

NYFW Recap One

As some of you who follow me on Snapchat may know I was in New York for Fashion week 9/9-9/12 and it was surreal. It has had been a goal of mine since I was a teenager staying up all night watching fashion TV; a cable channel in Nigeria that reran runway shows and fashion parties. I had big dreams as a little girl I wanted to be a part of that world so bad and to be a fashion designer.

However I come from a very practical background and a job in anything less than one rooted in academia was just not an option (so a dream deferred). After all I am the first child, from a single parent household with siblings that were impressionable.

I guess its the reason why when I started this creative journey in the digital space I kept it from everyone. Even now in some spaces, I feel a little unsure, slightly insecure and a bit sensitive about Supplechic.

CHROMAT SS17
Anyway I say all this to try an clue you guys in to what a dream it was to me to see the Chromat show live, to be able to RSVP, to be on the list. It had been a goal of mine to sit front row at NewYork Fashion Week before Thirty.  Although things didnt go exactly as planned and I am thirty and seven months old, I still got to experience it all and could have reached out and touched the models at the Onyii show (recap coming soon). Thinking of it basically brings tears to my eyes and I am grateful to God for honoring this dream of mine.

CHROMAT SS17

Day one consisted of me arriving to New York, attending the Chromat show at Milk Studios, eating the best freaking Hotdog Ive had in a while at Dikersons in Chealsea market, checking in and passing out. Additionally I was also invited to the Francesca Libetorie show however it was at the same time as Chromat so I had a fellow blogger go in my place and collect footage.

FRANCESCA LIBERATORE

FRANCESCA LIBERATORE
On day two we had two events the first one being the ShopStyle Social House at The Glass Houses and then we were off to Dumbo Brooklyn for the essence street style block party. It was quite hot in both days so I definitely had to make some adjustments to my look.

The essence street style event was awesome there were a variety of booths from various vendors from Shea moisture to the Rue 107 to Chen Bucket to Chevrolet it was just a fun event filled with music and great street style.

So because I didnt post at all last week I will be catching up so come back tomorrow for an Outfit post and the following day for part two of the recap. Additionally if you missed the Footage I collect from the trip I also vlogged so Subscribe Here for my inside look to NYFW.

Do you write down your dreams/goals, I wrote this one (NYFW) down two years ago why or why not? comment down below!! What steps have you taken today to reach it?

NYFW Recap : Favorite Shows & The RewardStyle Soiree

Tee & Clutch: Forever21,  Skirt: Thrift  Sandals: JustFab
I originally had no plans to be part of NYFW simply because I have been working on growing this blog and my YouTube channel to the point that it would open the right doors. However when I got the invite for the Rewardstyle event I knew that I had to make the trek to NYC.

The event attracts everyone from different spheres of the blogging world from folks like Girl Meets Glam who is the million dollar club to folks like little old me. It was a blast albeit a tad bit crowded and short lived because I was almost 2 hours late. The event was hosted right across from Lincoln Center at the Empire Hotel hence the first picture.

Even though I was only physically present for one day I decided this year that I would repost some of my favorite looks from the shows on my Twitter and Facebook and I included some of them in this collage. Honestly I think you have to be completely passionate to work in the world of fashion, because after one day I was drained. Im just imagining how its is for the editors that have to attend NYFW, LFW,PFW, and MFW all in the span of about a month.

CURRENTLY INSPIRED: NYFW STREET STYLE FAVS

Fashion week/s is what I've aptly nicknamed fashion olympics its the few weeks in the year were fashions best and brightest get to show off their stuff. You are literally changing time zones every-week. For me the best part of fashion week is the outfits its like walking into a real life editorial, its like Inspiration overload and that never gets old.
