Actually Happy Boxing Day, I know I know we are a day late but I couldn't not wish you guys season's greetings the run-up to Christmas was hectic to say the least. Keeping up with my content schedule and job from Vlogmas, to Gift Guides, Outfit posts etc.. So much so that on Saturday I was told in so many words about myself (#worklifebalance) and informed that I needed to relax.
So I hope you guys had a relaxing Christmas Day filled with love, family and Gifts. For those who had to spend Christmas alone remember the real reason for the season. On a day like this a long time ago God became man (Jesus) out of love so that our souls wouldnt be lost. No matter how absent or present people may be in your life hold on to the fact that you are never alone.
His love comforts, heals, restores, calms......... if you just let it in.
Alright I will admit their is a certain allure to waiting till the last minute the adrenallin rush and all, but unless you want to be playing russian rullette in the mall on Friday and Saturday today is the absolute last day to order gifts in time for Christmas. So if you still havnt gotten Mom, your sister, bestie, and prayer partner a gift do it now. Nordstrom, Macys, Amazon, and a Plethora of other sites are garranteeing delivery by Christmas Eve if you buy NOW.

Hi Chicster with less than half a month left in 2016 chances are that most of you have already started planning your 2017 glow up. But before we get to 2017 we still gotta get through NYE right? and we have to get through it with a bang Slaying for the Gwads ( do people even still say that?), cause there is so much to be thankful for.

Tip: a classic sequin dress is your fool proof never fail show stopper.....
With 12 days to New Years 😱😱 if you are in need of an outfit do not procrastinate get it now so that your sure it will get to you in enough time to make changes if nessasary.
If you are spending the new year in Gods presence your watch night service outfit should be anything but BLAHH.
Tip: start the new year in a look that shows that your Latter days will be better than your Former in pieces made out of fabrics that ooze opulence.....
Lastly for my socialites that will be embracing the new year sipping cocktails end 2016 in an outfit that is both understated and classy.
Tip: choose pieces with subtle sheen or embellished accents and dont forget to add faux fur extras.....

I have to say that unlike last year Im not as excited as I thought I would be for next year. Ive been feeling super critical of myself. I think in this instance I am going to write down what I am thankful for and that will be my New Years letter to myself as a reminder of Gods goodness.
Tip: When you get critical take a step back and reflect on what God has done for you, it always brings me back to a place of gratitude.
I've had the idea probably since last year that to do a post styling ugly christmas sweaters so here it is.
Love how culturally we've embraced the trend with more and more ugly christmas sweater parties every year ( see more U.C.S here). Its one of those things you hate to love, speaking of hate and love, I used to really despise christmas music and now when I hear it, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Please tell me I'm not the only one, it must be a sign that Im getting old😬

So I decided rather than keeping my look casual as one would expect, that I dress it up. I paired the Sweater from Target in an XL with my FTF X DIA&Co box skirt ( Click here for 50% off your first box). I love this full Skirt its exactly what I wanted and was looking for the length the fabric and shape 👌🏾👌🏾 make sure to ask for it when you request your DIA&Co box. Finally to finish off the look I choose my furry Red sandals (cause I didnt have these red Pumps) and Voila the look is finish.
Tip: Got a bit of a tummy pair a cropped sweater with High waist pieces like a midi skirt or mom Jeans for a flattering fit.

However that is not the subject of today's post, I decided to tackle two micro trends that are perfect for this time of year. The metallic pleated Midi skirt and the detailed sleeve trend. Additionally I thought I'd share more Holiday party picks especially since Asos is offering 30% off.
I've seen quite a bit of emphasis placed on the sleeve from super voluminous, to ruffled , tasseled, to even exaggerated lengths and much more. I was intrigued so I thought I'd give the trend a try, lets just say this particular style wasn't the best choice.

Tip: if you have large arms stay away from fit and flare styled sleeves they bring unflattering attention to your arms. Rather go for styles with all over volume or embellished sleeves.
I am sure you guys remember me talking about how obsessed I was with Kela Walkers outfit Here and how many pleated metallic Midis I ordered ( I shared them on Snapchat). This satin one comes from Asos (I ordered a size 18 if in between sizes I recommend sizing down) and I thought it would be fun to pair it with another shade of brown. I paired it with a fit and flare sleeved ribbed Top (runs large got in a 14) and went with a faux fur clutch ( keeping the look mostly nude) and finally broke things up with a platformed mustard satin Pump.
