 Hi all, not feeling 100% today decided to stay home cause I was tired of going to work sick! Unfortunately for me in the thick of it I had 2 meetings that would have been a hassel to reschedule so I went to work. I hate being sick its such a waste of time and if you are a mom you will know that being sick is for non-moms lol daddies try but..........

P.s this look was actually from my last look-book cant go wrong with a skater skirt its faltering on most body types.

In leau of the time of year I thought "boyfriend" would be a fitting title Valentines is upon us if your in need of a dress you can check out my previous post HERE. So I bought this pair of boyfriend jeans about 3 years ago and right off the bat I noticed it wasnt very "boyfriendy" on me cause of the hips and derrière the lord bless me with. For many reasons like my hatered of whiskering on jeans, these bad boys havnt gotten alot of wear (like 90% of my closet) but as of late they've come on my radar maybe it is  because some of my favorite bloggers/celebs have been wearing them. What are the characteristics of a good boyfriend jean you might ask:

1. slouchy 
2. faded and destroyed
3. cuffed (because of course your boyfriend is way taller than you so you had to cuff his jeans)
4. from your boyfriend/fav neighborhood denim retailer

Boyfriend jeans and white two tricky trends on plus-size/curvy women, as always its about how you style it. So how do you feel about the winter white and boyfriend jean trend ( boyfriend jeans tend to favor a boyish body type and white makes everything look larger!!)are you for them or against them and have you tried these trends.

P.s this was supposed to be a winter white post, but you get a two fer because fortunately or unfortunately I dont have any white bottoms and honestly I am scared of white I would be a nervous wreck  the whole time from trying not to get stained.

The years end is upon us, can you believe it, I cant. I remember the beginning of the year like it was yesterday I was so uncertain about many things in my life and worried about what God had in store for me; but as usual he did not fail and even as this year ends and somethings are still uncertain, I am comforted by the fact that he has never and will never fail me. 

So this metallic skirt has been sitting in my closet for almost two years. Mainly because for many reasons I just dont wear em this short anymore. One being that I spend my friday/saturday nights usually catching up on my fav shows/cleaning/catching up on work, but I like to be prepared for the days when I venture into my past life lol! 

Moms always ask me for quick outfit tips here is a five minutes or less fail safe: blouse-body con skirt- pumps ( if you have a tummy dont tuck the shirt in leave it out cinch your waist with a belt to create a peplum-esque effect ) voila!

P.S still wish I got the pink and gold ones if your following me on IG you know what I am talking about

WHAT TO WEAR: HOLIDAY DINNER

Sorry to interrupt regularly scheduled programing. This post was intended to be a video on youtube but after some thought I knew I wouldn't have it up before thanksgiving so I opted to do a post. If you have ever ventured into making video's you will know its no small feet. From editing out outtakes to bloopers: I have a very VIBRANT five year old ( who always wants to be in mommy's videos), to voice overs, to editing pictures, to video effects and finally rendering ( in my mind you only do youtube for two reasons you love it or you are getting paid lol).

 I came up with three scenarios and styled my outfits accordingly.

Meet the parents

For many reasons the holidays seem to be the most convenient time for folks in relationships to meet each others families. If you are in that situation this is for you. Personally I would go sweet and sassy no matter your personal style (that is if you are into whips, chains, spikes, lace, leather and all things naughty) this is not the time to show it ( even if its on trend) mom's as well as dads have a view in their heads of whom they want their son to be with and none of the afore mentioned items of clothing is involved. With that in mind I started with a chiffon blouse tucked into a skater skirt which I finished of with opaque tights and a bootie.

Grubbing 

Now this is what I do during the holidays.I leave all my fancy clothes at home because they get in the way of me getting down.This is such an easy outfit a tunic and leggings . Legging are perfect cause they have stretch in them and a roomy tunic will camouflage any food baby.

Host/Hostess

First I will say I have never been a hostess (at least not officially anyway). Its something I dread ( but I know its coming)  because I know the work involved in cooking and of course cleaning because your having guests over and finally cleaning after they leave. Like most hostesses you will be busy till the last minute, probably showering as your guests are arriving. You want to keep things simple, practical but put together/luxe. when I think luxe "silk" is the first thing that comes to mind. I started off with a silk blouse and to add a kick I paired it with leather pants, finally I topped it off with a cozy cardigan a statement ring and sparkly studs.

P.S skater skirts are great for all body types they camouflage as well as give the illusion of more where their is less and you can eat as much as you want. Also leather pants are optional maybe a Jacquard/ brocade pant or one in oxblood if you want to stay on trend but any slim/ankle pants will do. As promised here is part two;

Lately I have been gravitating towards the black and white palette and consequently I have purchased a few clothing pieces with that color combination.

The sun dress is the quintessential summer staple, it even has "sun" in its name.

During Full Figure Fashion week I spotted this dress and i knew it was coming home with me.I love this dress for three reasons it has a palm print (vacation!!), it was thirteen dollars and it features the silhouette of the moment the "fit and flare".

For fall I decided to go for a "school girl" inspired look I layered a blouse underneath the dress and turned it into a pinafore. 

In addition the blouse was buttoned all the way to the top, a statement necklace and botties completed the look

depending on your weather you can go bear legs or if its a bit chilly add some tights.Their is just something I love about black tights and black botties

LAYERS

When I first came up with the concept for this blog I told my self I would be posting twice a week definitely not twice a month lol! but as they say, we plan God laughs; I am so busy these days I go days without coming across anything fashion related (well maybe not days more like 18-24 hours!)

On the other hand it is still like 80 degrees were I live during the day, but it does drop significantly at night which annoys me because by mid day I am sweating! We are currently experiencing climate-control issue's in my workplace( thats a long story)
hence my previous statement.

Consequently I decided do a series on how I transition my favorite summer pieces for fall. Rompers/playsuit have been out for about three summers but believe it or not, I only have one and I bought it this summer ( I am most comfortable with classics and when I do venture out I have strict parameters). I hate spending a lot of money on trendy things especially when they will not come back the following year so I wait. Needless to say the romper kept on coming back and I finally found one in my size, my price point, and in a flattering silhouette. So off course you know, that I couldnt just store it away just because summer is over. 

Here is a typical summer outfit 

would have added a fedora and shades if I didn't have my hair in this retro inspired style 

To transition the romper for fall the first thing I did was to layer on a light sweater

I chose the sweater because I wanted to play with prints, it has graduated stripes and is in a neutral palette just like the romper. To add some color I choose my purple suede loafers and I finished the look off with a printed bag that also had the same shade of purple to tie the whole look together.

Finally I added another layer for warmth
(you can decided to add as many layers as you would like )

 If its colder where you live and if your like me and you dont want to give up your romper, all you have to do is add some opaque tights, which with this particular outfit I would pair with combat boots and a red lip,to compliment the red in the bag.

MUSE :Klerlie Raymond

So I am starting a new series called Muse cause I am sure sooner than later you guys will get tired of seeing my face lol! Basically I will be showcasing bloggers, designers, pop culture icons, the girl on the street, anyone who I feel has inspired me. 

So I first came across K. on Lookbook and was immediately enthralled. I quickly checked to see if she had a blog unfortunately she didnt (I can totally understand why). 

For the most part I follow quite a few Bloggers some mainstream others not so much but I tend to idolize the ones that are adventurous e.g. the vintage virgin.

 I love people who don't quite sing to everyone's tune and this is very rare in the full figured world. With all that said I bring you Kerlie Raymond.

I'd say her style is quite Eclectic its a  mish mash of California Chic ( flower child meets edgy meets beach babe) with a  hint of Now( Modern,trendy) and a healthy dose of Vintage

So I asked K, three questions 
1. What does your style say about you? My style says whatever and whoever I am feeling that day.

2.Who is your style/fashion muse/inspiration? My style inspiration is June Ambrose. Her style is phenomenal. 

3. If you can only choose one item to wear every single day for the next year, what would it be?The one item I would choose to wear everyday for the next year is confidence, without it no outfit is complete. =]

K. I would buy a ticket to wherever you are if you would let me raid your closet!!

BFSC: POOLSIDE

This is my last post for the BFSC I am elated literally; because these last couple of weeks have been posting OLYMPICS for me. I can see why people quit their jobs and become full time bloggers lol! 
I really wanted to shoot at the beach but there is no beach around here for hours. Which makes me miss New Haven, the beach was literally 5 mins away the funny thing is I'll probably be at the beach this weekend. So instead I had to settle with my sister-in-laws pool.I really love Rihanna style. Most especially her vacation style she is always on the cusp when it comes to fashion trends, swim wear included; I love the way she mixes her pieces.

BFSC:(SEQUINS) SHORT SHORTS!

I have amassed a mini arsenal of shorts and I wondered which pair to wear,I didn't want to do denim cut off's; had my eye on a printed pair at target but didn't buy them. 

Finally I decided on my scalloped sequin-esque shorts that I bought in the winter from F21+.I am more of an introvert so I really don't like things that bring attention to me so sequin during the day is a bit of a stretch for me.
  However for awhile now I have been intrigued by the thought of wearing them for day because they are definitely night time shorts and "not something I would normally wear" for day.

There was a time I wouldn't be caught dead in shorts because I didn't think I had the body for them, in my mind only girls/women who where a certain size could pull them off. 

I don't know when the change happened but slowly I stopped caring about what others thought of me (don't get me wrong sometimes I get an off day) and I decide to be free of sleeves and jeans in the Heat.

My message is wear what you want (as much as possible make sure the style favors your body type)forget about physical imperfections ( we are all imperfect in some way its just more apparent with some of us)ill say it again WEAR WHAT YOU WANT.

SONSI FFFWEEK RECAP: Curves Connections & Cocktails Event & Be-YOU-tiful POP-UP PARTY

So if you are following me on any of my social media platforms you would know that I was in New York for FULL FIGURE FASHION WEEK ( click here for info). I attended two events the Curves, connections and cocktail event (Curvy Cabaret) and the Sonsi Be-YOU-tiful pop-up party. 
The first event I went to was the Curves and Connections event and the highlight of my night was having Fluvia Lacerda compliment my dress. 
I was exhausted can you tell from the picture,.... I am very shy so I have been trying to put myself out there; anywho it took all I had to walk up to her,and as you can see it payed off.
Unfortunately I didn't get any footage because I misplaced my camera, however I hope these pictures will be enough.

FULL FIGURE FASHION WEEK is an annual event and last year was my first time going, this year I was lucky enough to attend a  networking event 

( my first ever Press event)

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing/meeting bloggers, especially the ones I know virtually like Alyssa,Jennifer,Marcy,Jessica,Marie and many more.
