When in doubt wear neutrals!The Bomber/Letterman jacket is not quite mainstream, but I have a hunch that it will be by Fall.

 The bomber is making a come back its been re-incarnated in a streamline version of the original in a variety of prints and on trend colors( my favorite being the floral prints,it creates the perfect mix of feminine and sporty). Additionally its a great alternative to a standard suit jacket and makes the perfect light weight jacket for spring.

SPRING TRENDS 2013: SUITS

After the hiatus we are back to spring trends as the title says the next trend is SUITS. So I have to say that one of two things must be happening its either I am getting older and my style is slowly becoming like my mothers "cringe" or fashion is truly repeating itself and my mother had killer style . I used to detest suits growing up, suits with embellishments, cut-outs, shoulder pads and lace; now I go thrifting looking for these things. 

Any way the "suit" trend has been building momentum  for some time, and as you can see Ms. Gabi was ahead of the curve. The suit trend has been modernized to include prints, lux fabrics, in season colors as well as shorts. 

As much as I love short suits I just dont think its practical for my life, I tried to picture an occasion where it would be appropriate and for the most part I couldn't.  So its the pant suit for me preferably in a bright color like cobalt, purple or green. I would also love a printed one (SOLANGE is the queen of those) but I want to start first with a solid colored impeccably tailored suit. In this outfit I feel like I am channeling my inner Solange (her style is literally the sugar in my tea). The weather has been bi-polar lately one day its 60 and its looking up, another day its snowing which turns into freezing rain lol! I guess thats what I love about the monochrome trend cause although its supposed to be a spring trend to me it lends its self more for winter. However you could spring-ify the trend with pops of color like tangerine and pineapple (almost sounds like a tropical drink). Can you tell from the pictures how much I adore this skirt (actually the fabric) and it was only six bucks! P.s I am on the hunt for a modern pant suit (preferably in color) so if you come across one in size 16 please holla at ya girl!

SPRING TRENDS 2013: MONOCHROME

So I typically do one big post showcasing the upcoming trends, however I decided not to do it that way this time. As we know not everything we see on the catwalk is ment for the crosswalk. So I've decided to feature my TOP FIVE "wearable" trends for SS 2013 one post at a time.

The first would be the MONOCHROME trend. Now I dont know why its called the monochrome trend cause I always taught mono ment one (I googled it and I stand corrected) and since its black and white wouldn't dat be two? This color combination has taking over, from stripes, to windowpane prints, to polka dots. Moreover its a personal fav because its wearable and you can easily shop your closet. So have you started your spring shopping, purchased any black and white items or tried the trend. 

Every season new trends come and go but everyone knows that theirs rarely anything new under the "fashion sun". If you are on a budget first shop your closet, if that fails vintage/thrift stores offer great quality pieces for less and finally when your satisfied that you have done due diligence shop!

In leau of the time of year I thought "boyfriend" would be a fitting title Valentines is upon us if your in need of a dress you can check out my previous post HERE. So I bought this pair of boyfriend jeans about 3 years ago and right off the bat I noticed it wasnt very "boyfriendy" on me cause of the hips and derrière the lord bless me with. For many reasons like my hatered of whiskering on jeans, these bad boys havnt gotten alot of wear (like 90% of my closet) but as of late they've come on my radar maybe it is  because some of my favorite bloggers/celebs have been wearing them. What are the characteristics of a good boyfriend jean you might ask:

1. slouchy 
2. faded and destroyed
3. cuffed (because of course your boyfriend is way taller than you so you had to cuff his jeans)
4. from your boyfriend/fav neighborhood denim retailer

Boyfriend jeans and white two tricky trends on plus-size/curvy women, as always its about how you style it. So how do you feel about the winter white and boyfriend jean trend ( boyfriend jeans tend to favor a boyish body type and white makes everything look larger!!)are you for them or against them and have you tried these trends.

P.s this was supposed to be a winter white post, but you get a two fer because fortunately or unfortunately I dont have any white bottoms and honestly I am scared of white I would be a nervous wreck  the whole time from trying not to get stained.

So I was browsing one of my favorite sites Asos and as usual I wanted everything on the site! but I noticed that they had an assortment of LBD's then it clicked to me that the next comercial holiday, Valentines Day is around corner coincidence maybe. While brainstorming for the post I decided to do a "naughty" and "nice" post. I dont know about you but I know most women bring their "A" game on "vals" even the ones that are anti -valentines; cause if you have a man your making sure his attention is on you and if your trying or "not trying" to land a man your making sure the attentions on you lol!

Hi dolls! its the ninth day of the new year a week has already gone by wow! I predict this year is going to race by, which is kind of bitter sweet for me because my not so little munchkin is turning six soon . Seems like he was born yesterday however before I procede down nostalgia lane let me get back to this post. I seem to be keeping it simple these days, I actually wore this outfit before the Gray post but thought it was too simple for the blog (I need to stop second guessing myself lol). After reading this post by stylishcurves and watching this vid on pocketsandbowsTV  I decide otherwise. Also black and white seem to be the combination of the moment. I am so behind on up and coming trends I seriously need to do some homework, I can tell you to keep your eye out for stripes preferably black and white and for the color emerald. Last september was hectic for me because I was transitioning so I was out of the fashion week loop, on that note I cant believe Fashion Week (NY) is only a month away time flies, this time last year I was preparing for IFBCON. By the way I still feel like the outfit is missing something what would you add?

P.s If you are a blogger and you havnt been (IFBCON) its definitely an experience and now they have jazzed it up and made it a two day event.

Cant believe its New Years Eve seems like the year started yesterday, goes by fast I guess as you get older. As I look through these pictures I think of all the phases I went through this year, from mint to chartreuse to oxblood and leather its been an interesting year. It had its ups and its downs but I am grateful to just be here. I just want to thank you especially for following my journey and for allowing me into your lives its a choice that you made

Hi Dolls! I hope you and your love ones are having a happy holiday. Just wanted to do a quick post on the New Years Eve look I created as part of a Collab video between NaturallyFashionable and ONtheQtrain. I usually dont do post for my video's (so subscribe if you are into video's) but I decided other wise. I went with a classic look that would be easy to recreate. A lace blouse is a going out staple 

(if you dont have one get one HERE HERE HERE) and I used here as the base for the look, I knew that I would have to include my two current faves my plate belt from asos ( which I have seen on quite a few bloggers so I know I am not alone) and my bandage skirt. To finish of the look I chose metallic accessories.

P.S I am 100% sure I will be spending my new years eve in church ( kinda like a tradition we loathed growing up), the older we get the more like our parents we become lol! How will you be spending your new years eve?

CHRISTMAS WISH-LIST

So if you are following me on FB you have seen these rings I first spotted them on the "persianbabe" on youtube at least six months ago and I wanted them. Mainly because they are so minimal and easy to wear. I dont wear a lot of jewelry on a daily bases and as much I like the look of an arm party/multi rings I slowly realized that I neither had/have the time nor the patience (the multiple clasps on bracelets). I bought multiple bracelets to stack but the only place they are being stacked is on the jewelry organiser I bought. Subsequently the minimalist and simplistic look of these appealed to me (you dont need any fashion IQ). Still not sure why I haven't purchased them it might be because of my overflowing jewelry organiser lol!

The next thing on my list is a floral jacket I have to say I have become a collector of jackets and I dont own a floral one. Printed jackets are in this case floral jackets are great because they easily add oomph! to a simple outfit. I love the tuxedo style on this jacket and how versatile the print is it can be worn with an all black assemble in the winter and completely revamped in the spring.

I first spotted the Celine luggage tote 2+ years ago on an european street-style blog showcasing models off duty and I was instantly intrigued. I wasn't as familiar with the Celine brand but I knew it was high-end and out off my budget, but I still wanted to know how much a bag like that would run. Needless to say I couldn't find any retailer in the US at the time that carried it in stock at least online anyway, with further digging I found out it was only on special order. I believe Nicole Ritchie was the first american I spotted carrying it. Fast track 2+ years later the Celine brand has become a Blogger fav; anyway on my budget the Celine is out of the question but I was drawn to this bag from JCPenny's because it had the look of both a "Trapeze" and a "Luggage tote". If I cant have the real thing, this is close enough its genuine leather, the price is definitely right and I can pretend its a Celine lol!

I have got a "pretend" leather jacket  thats what I call my H&M pleather jacket but I am seriously in want of a real leather one (its definitely a wardrobe staple/must have and its something you will wear consistently). I have had it on my thrift list for years now I am yet to score one. The difficult part is I carry weight in my arms so many times when I find deals online I am scarred to purchase because in the past the body would fit but not the arms.You can imagine how excited I was when Asos curve came out with a real leather, moto style jacket and in my size, I did a little dance; all I need now is a 100 Asos gift card.

Confession In the last 4 years I dont think I have had a fragrance; when I was in high school it was j'adore Dior thanks to my mom. When I started college it was the Escada summer edition ( I also tried Euphoria, Kenso Flower to name a few). One thing about me is that I have very unsophisticated taste when it comes to fragrances (thats why I tend to prefer summer editions). I like them fruity smelling I HATE!!!! musky perfumes I dont like anything complicated. I guess thats why my VS body sprays have been working the last four years (that is when I time to spray them). Anyways I won a 100 gift card to Sephora and I was determined to buy something for myself ( I am kinda glad it was Sephora and not some where like Target cause it would have been spent on the house) I figured I would try a new fragrance, I smelled the original Coach Poppy last year and loved it; unfortunately for me they didn't have the original poppy set, they had the poppy flower set and I didn't like the smell. So I went to exchange it and I smelled Flower-BOMB! this stuff is amazing but a little pricey. They only had a small set so I got a Versace set instead but this will be my next fragrance purchase gotta make up for four years lol! if you haven't smelled it run dont walk!!

Had to save the best for last. So in the good book ( bible) it says ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find......, some folks believe if you put it out into the universe it will come back, so that is what I am doing. Not sure on who or when I spotted these Loubs but I have been obsessed ever since. It is SEX in a shoe (to me anyway). I have spotted dupes online but since I have man feet ( 10.5 wide = size 11) they didn't have my size. I also spotted a dupe in my local Macys but they didn't have my size and I couldnt find them online either. If this is all I got it would suffice as my christmas, birthday and anniversary gift lol! But honestly even if I could afford this in my budget  I am not sure I would buy this for myself. I think things like this should be gifts (diamonds, expensive watches, bags, shoes e.t.c)but then I am a girl with simple/inexpensive taste "wink".

The years end is upon us, can you believe it, I cant. I remember the beginning of the year like it was yesterday I was so uncertain about many things in my life and worried about what God had in store for me; but as usual he did not fail and even as this year ends and somethings are still uncertain, I am comforted by the fact that he has never and will never fail me. 

So this metallic skirt has been sitting in my closet for almost two years. Mainly because for many reasons I just dont wear em this short anymore. One being that I spend my friday/saturday nights usually catching up on my fav shows/cleaning/catching up on work, but I like to be prepared for the days when I venture into my past life lol! 

Moms always ask me for quick outfit tips here is a five minutes or less fail safe: blouse-body con skirt- pumps ( if you have a tummy dont tuck the shirt in leave it out cinch your waist with a belt to create a peplum-esque effect ) voila!
